Hello Future, Our Name Is Swound!
- The album title comes from our favourite TV program, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, which aired on Nickelodeon whilst we were growing up. In the episode “Das Bus”, the character Big Pete exclaims ‘Hello future, my name is Pete’ to a stapler he had just bought from a vending machine.
- The idea for the photograph on the front cover was inspired by the episode of Futurama named ‘Fear Of The Bot Planet’, where Fry and Leela wear homemade robot costumes consisting of pans, bins and other kitchen utensils.
- Tom’s costume is identical to one he and Joe wore in a playschool play when they were four and three respectively. They had to perform a song called “Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer” to a packed audience. Joe was the last little man to fly away and got stage fright in his solo performance. The play school leader had to come on stage and sing with him, whilst holding his hand. He got over this to hand in a legendary performance in “Hunt the Wren” at primary school. It was a master class and is still talked about to this day. Tom drew the front cover for this event (“Lowdham Playgroup Presents A Visit To Nursery Rhyme Land”). It was Slimer from Ghostbusters.
- The binary writing in the artwork contains a secret message.
- We recorded the seven tracks in two sessions. The first was at the end of January 2008 and the second was in March 2008. These were both in Nottingham at Random Recording Studios. Paul Tipler engineered and produced the tracks.
- Tipler has also done recordings with Idlewild, The 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Placebo, Reuben and Cable amongst others. Swound! Love each and every one of these bands
- We mixed the tracks in April 2008 at Tipler’s studio in London.
- Some guitar parts were recorded by Chris Walls who was a part of the band for two years until his departure in May 2008. This was because he was too good looking.
- Joe completed the Xbox 360 game Halo 3 during the first week of recording. During mixing he played Bioshock, but got too scared to finish it. Lloyd played Call of Duty 3.
- Joe and Lloyd were the only ones present for all the mixing and they lived off Ainsley Harriott’s cup a soup, cous cous and £1 microwave meals for the whole week. Eating had never been so depressing. Between them, they drank three large bottles of Cherry Coke each day to make up for this.
