Living In A Box

• Lloyd wrote this song with his keyboard in 2005, before he joined Swound!.

• The lyrics were changed from the original demo as they involved lines like “I smashed a glass and apple-cored his eye”.  They didn’t reflect our wholesome family image. Tom and Lloyd still have a database of lyrics they came up with for this that are all similarly hideous. Sometimes, Joe forgets our status as role models for the youth of today and still sings the evil versions live. He’s never been good at remembering lyrics.

• Joe lost his voice soon after recording vocals for this and had to finish up any remaining vocal takes a month later when recording recommenced.

• The ‘music box’ that sounds at the start of the song was the last thing that was recorded for this album. We were trying hard to get something that sounded like the intro to “Magic Dance”, David Bowie’s amazing song from “The Labyrinth”.
